Governing Documents
The Student Senate is organized based on both the governing documents of the ASUW and the Student Senate. The ASUW Constitution guarantees self-governance of the student assembly, thus the Senate Bylaws and Rules were born.
Senate
Bylaws
This document governs operations of the Student Senate as a branch of the larger association. The Articles outline officers and their duties, the legislative process, and meeting procedures among other things.
Standing Rules
Like the ASUW Bylaws, the Senate Rules dictate specific protocols including the process for obtaining membership, conducting votes, and setting the agenda.
Miscellaneous
ASUW Constitution
The ASUW Constitution is approved and amended by the Student Body in a general vote. Each Article outlines a different aspect of the association, each branch’s powers, or a significant committee.
ASUW Articles of Incorporation
The ASUW was incorporated in 1906 by seven members of the University of Washington student body. Here they outline the purpose of the Association in its new form as a legal corporation.
ASUW Board of Directors Bylaws
These Bylaws further govern the association on an operational basis including mechanisms of budget control, ASUW Commissions, and various other established student boards.
Student Governance & Policies (SGP)
These include regulations as set by the UW Board of Regents including stipulations for the expenditure of public funds by the ASUW & GPSS.
