Senate Bill to Create a New Type of Legislation

WHEREAS, resolutions representing the opinion of the students at the University of Washington must pass the Board of Directors to take effect, and;

WHEREAS, some resolutions may only reflect the opinion of the Student Senate and may not be appropriate as reflecting the opinion of the students as a whole, and;

WHEREAS, such a mechanism does not currently exist.

BE IT RECOMMENDED BY THE ASSOCIATED STUDENTS OF THE UNIVERSITY OF WASHINGTON STUDENT SENATE:

THAT, the ASUW Student Senate Bylaws be amended as follows, as adding a new section under Article IV:

'Section 4. Organic Resolutions

'A. Organic Resolutions only reflect the opinion of the ASUW Student Senate.

'B. Organic Resolutions are appropriate for, but not limited to: praise, reward, removal, and/or censoring of any member of the Senate; supporting or opposing actions taken by other ASUW committees, or; any other action taken by the Senate that would neither amend the Senate bylaws nor Senate rules and would only reflect the opinion of the Senate.'
