A Bill To Change The Quorum Requirements Of The Senate

WHEREAS, the current reading of the Student Senate Bylaws, regarding quorum, can be confusing and interpreted in different ways, and

WHEREAS, a method to compute quorum ensuring that the Student Senate can conduct business with a representative number of Senators, without the fear of losing quorum is needed.

BE IT RECOMMENDED BY THE ASSOCIATED STUDENTS OF THE UNIVERSITY OF WASHINGTON STUDENT SENATE:

THAT, Article VII, Section 2.A of the Student Senate Bylaws be amended to read:
A. Quorum shall consist of:
1. a minimum of 25 % of the total seats in the Senate; and
2. a minimum of 40% of the active seats in the Senate

NOTE: Article VII, Section 2 currently reads:

A. Quorum shall consist of:
1. A minimum of forty percent of the active number of seats; and
2. A majority of the current number of Senators
