A Resolution Supporting The National Alcohol Consumption Age To Be Decreased

Whereas, the age of legal citizenry in the United States of America is eighteen years of age and

Whereas, with becoming of age and citizenry offers specific rights including; the right to vote, to use tobacco products, and to gamble and

Whereas, the entry to the United States armed services is considered after the age of citizenry and

Whereas, the general youth population view an alcohol consumption age of twenty-one years to infringe upon personal liberties and

Whereas, soldiers can die for their country on a battlefield at an age of eighteen years while a young adult of the same age cannot sit at a dinner table with family and dine with beverage of their choice

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE ASSOCIATED STUDENTS OF THE UNIVERSITY OF WASHINGTON:

That, the ASUW due formally support the personal right to choice of beverage and

That, the ASUW does formally supports legislation that allows citizens of eighteen years of age to consume alcohol.

That, the ASUW does formally support amending the ASUW legislative agenda to include a pro-active stance on reducing the alcohol consumption age.
