A Resolution of Neutrality Regarding Unionization Negotiations WHEREAS, Academic Student Employees (ASEs), including TAs, readers, and tutors play in important role in the functioning of the university, and WHEREAS, the negotiations of the administration and GSEAC/UAW have not reached an agreement, which resulted in a strike during the spring quarter of 2001, and WHEREAS, thousands of undergraduate students are still without numerical grades for courses that they took that quarter, and WHEREAS, undergraduate students who are not TAs, readers, or tutors are not represented in the unionization negotiations. BE IT RESOLVED BY THE ASSOCIATED STUDENTS OF THE UNIVERSITY OF WASHINGTON: THAT, the ASUW calls on the UW administration and GSEAC/UAW to resolve this issue, and THAT, the ASUW does not take a side in favor or opposition to either GSEAC/UAW or the Administration in the content of their negotiations. THAT, the ASUW continues to support the right of academic student employees to unionize. History of Legislation 2/5/2003: Legislation transfered from old database. |
