A Resolution in support of American Service Members WHEREAS: a significant portion of Americans are in the active and reserve branches of the United States military, and WHEREAS: the dedication and sacrifice of American service members must be distinguished from the act of being at war itself, and WHEREAS: the members of the armed forces represent a diversity of races, religions, creeds, sexes and sexualities, and WHEREAS: many students attending the University of Washington are members of the armed services, and WHEREAS: these fellow Americans are entrusted with the duty to defend the lives of all Americans, and WHEREAS: each and every one of these people are willing to die to protect our livelihood. BE IT RESOLVED BY THE ASSOCIATED STUDENTS OF THE UNIVERSITY OF WASHINGTON: THAT: the students of the University of Washington are thankful for the sacrifices that American service members make, and THAT: the ASUW recognized the distinction between coming together and supporting our nation's service members from supporting or opposing current military actions.
