A Resolution to Name the HUB Senate Chamber

WHEREAS Rene Singleton has advised hundreds of student leaders at the University of Washington; and

WHEREAS Rene has served as the Assistant Director of Student Activities for twenty years; and

WHEREAS student leaders in the Associated Students of the University of Washington and other student groups have relied on Rene’s wisdom and experience throughout all twenty years; and

WHEREAS students appreciate Rene’s enthusiasm, helpfulness, and unmatched thoughtfulness; and

WHEREAS Rene serves as a cornerstone of institutional memory in the ASUW and other organizations; and

WHEREAS naming a location on the University of Washington campus for an exceptional individual is an honor not only at the UW, but throughout the collegiate world; and

WHEREAS the HUB is being renovated and will be completed at the end of 2012, and the new design includes a ‘senate chamber’ for use by the ASUW Student Senate and the Graduate and Professional Student Senate; therefore

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE ASSOCIATED STUDENTS OF THE UNIVERSITY OF WASHINGTON:

THAT the ASUW recognizes Rene Singleton as a pivotal part of our experience at the University of Washington; and

THAT the ASUW Student Senate and ASUW Board of Directors, past and present, thank Rene for her hard work and dedication; and

THAT the ASUW acts to name the future HUB senate chamber the Yvette (Rene) Singleton Senate Chamber; and

THAT all future Senate agendas in 2012 and thereafter have the name of the room listed as the “Singleton Chamber ”, HUB, room number; and

THAT this resolution be forwarded to the UW Naming Committee.
