Resolution In Support of Student Involvement in Higher Education Advocacy Day 2010

WHEREAS Higher Education Advocacy Day will be held in Olympia on Friday, February 5th, 2010; and

WHEREAS This is an opportunity for all University of Washington students to present their opinions regarding higher education to their legislators; and

WHEREAS It is important to ensure the involvement of as many students as possible; and

WHEREAS Friday, February 5th, 2010 is a scheduled class day, therefore

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE ASSOCIATED STUDENTS OF THE UNIVERSITY OF WASHINGTON:

THAT the faculty of the University of Washington should make every effort to facilitate student involvement in Lobby Day by excusing attending students from class on Friday, February 5th, 2010 except in the case of an exam, lab or other important class related event; and

THAT in the case of such important class events every effort be made by the faculty of the University of Washington to accommodate student involvement with Higher Education Advocacy Day by rescheduling said event or offering a make-up event; and

THAT faculty are encouraged to include Higher Education Advocacy Day as a segment of their curriculum;

THAT ASUW Senators urge their constituents to attend and volunteer in the organization of Lobby Day.
