A Resolution Supporting the Honors Croquet League's Fourth Annual All Campus Tournament WHEREAS, Croquet is a delightful and ecologically responsible recreational activity that benefits the campus community; and, WHEREAS, The Honors Croquet League, founded with 5 members in January 2000 and granted RSO status in September 2000 presently numbers some 387 members; and, WHEREAS, The Honors Croquet League has been actively promoting the activity of croquet both on and off campus, and has to this effect been featured positively in a variety of media and has even received a postcard from bestselling author David Sedaris regarding an invitation to join the league; and, WHEREAS, The Honors Croquet League has hosted no fewer than 39 matches of croquet as of April 10, 2004; and, WHEREAS, the Honors Croquet League has for the past three years hosted the All Campus Tournament; and, WHEREAS, The All Campus Tournament is an activity sponsored to encourage and facilitate the enjoyment of Croquet by the entire university regardless of race, age, gender, sexual orientation, marital status, religion, ideology, or any other sort of cultural signifier; BE IT RESOLVED BY THE ASSOCIATED STUDENTS OF THE UNIVERSITY OF WASHINGTON: THAT the ASUW does acknowledge the importance of recreation in the campus environment; and, THAT the ASUW does acknowledge the activity of croquet as an exemplary form of campus recreation; and, THAT the ASUW does recognize the contribution of the Honors Croquet League to the campus community; and, THAT the ASUW supports the Fourth Annual All Campus Tournament sponsored by the Honors Croquet League.
